Hello, my darlings!

As I toil away on this book for the Paranormal Romance advent calendar, I’m thinking about winter while heading into summer. It’s a funny dichotomy.

See, I usually hate summer. It’s my LEAST creative time. July and August are anathema to my word count. I’m hoping that observing the Wheel of the Year this year will help with that – appreciation for the ever-changing nature of Nature, and all that good stuff – but I want this book done ASAP, just in case. Luckily, I can aaaaaaalmost feel it teetering on the edge of tipping over from the middle to the end. Almost there.

I’ve been on a Stephen King kick, partly because it’s very different from what I’m writing, and I don’t like to get my wires crossed, but also because they’re my comfort reads. I read a lot of thrillers while writing The Best People You Know, so I needed a break from the genre. When I need to go to ground, King is my good stone floor. So yeah, I’ve plowed through maybe ten books (not short ones, either) in the past two weeks. Ope.

But anyway, I think it’s helping with the writing. Takes the pressure off keeping my mind busy elsewhere until it’s time to write. Gonna finish banging this one out and get it ready for the advent calendar.

Winter, my loves. Snow and pine trees and the scent of cold. It’s not 80+ degrees outside. It’s barely above zero, and Shae is on her way to where the eagles nest.

Back into the winter forest for me.
